Hidalgo camera shops and contact numbers

Forget the malls. If you’re out to buy a camera or some accessories, Hidalgo Street is the place to be. Named after the painter Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, this stretch of shops near the Quiapo Church and Plaza Miranda is known to professionals and serious hobbyists as a haven for photographers. Hey, it’s where I got my camera.

It’s where the lowest prices can be had (about 5-10K lower than malls), and there’s enough variety to ensure you get what you really want. Just a few years ago it was dirty and filled with street vendors, making it difficult to navigate. The city had a project to clean it up, and now it looks much, much better.

But before you trek to Hidalgo, better call the shops first to see if they have your item on stock. It will save you from heartache. Also, some of them do delivery so check if that’s more convenient for you. Haggle. Remember that prices are not etched in stone. Here’s a list of their phone numbers:

    Hi. Nice post about Hidalgo. I was wondering if the other stores there accept creditcards?? Im short on cash.. hehe Im still planning to buy a d40 even though its hard to find. thsnk for the post about it being difficult to find. I also heard that some stores there have 6% interest on credit cards?? is this true?? thanks and more power….

    Hi Vince. According to forums I frequent, most of the established ones do accept credit cards, but some might insist on charging extra with this method so be prepared for it. Haven’t tried this myself, though, because I always buy cash to avoid the hassle. Good luck!

    @moche: no, it’s not.

    @jessa: i’m not sure about that. i think asking someone if you can use their credit card is your best bet. it will probably have interest, though. please call them at the number above to ask for the best deals.

    check multiply they sell nikon d5000 at cheaper than 33k but the waranty are only shop warranty, same with quiapo shop warranty at some but quiapo is known to be the talyer also of cameras..

    I just bought my Nikon d5000 with lens kit, filter, bag and LCD sticker protector for 28k. I bought it at Meyers. They also gave me a one yr warranty that included service and parts (incld battery and charger). It was a great deal.

    To get to hidalgo, took an FX from Megamall to Quiapo and then an fx back to megamall from Quiapo.

    sa mga nabasa kong mga reviews d5000 ang medyo ok & affordable dslr today.. about the quality d sya gano nag kakalayo sa d90 at d300x.. SO may budget kpa kung gus2 mo pang mag upgrade ng lens.i have read din na mas oki ung pic quality nya kesa sa canon 500d although mas lamang sa pixels ung 500d base on some testimonials of some photographers.

    nag search ako sa sulit e. may pwesto sila Holiday Plaza Libertad Pasay. ung kit nila 29,000 maganda ganda package nila unlike ngyn sa hidalgo, pero they do not accept creditcards.

    gud day. ask ko lang kung magkano na Nikon D5000 twin lens sa Hidalgo. i heard from a photographer sa QC na may instance daw sa Hidalgo na pag walang alam yung buyer about sa cam, 2nd hand ibibigay sayo. at pag nasira daw yung cam at pinagawa mo sa kanila, sasabihin nila na hindi iyon yung cam na binigay nila sayo. and i have a nagging doubt na orig cams sa hidalgo and dbgadgets. pls email me photoop12@yahoo.com. thanks guys
