Cheap but reliable CD-R King MP4 player - is there such a thing?

Fortunately for us, the answer is yes, and it’s not one of those flimsy re-branded generic players that are prone to screen breakage and button malfunction. Nope, this comes from a trusted brand, the Kingston KPEX 100. Browsing forums for feedback, it was highly recommended, while the SB-128 (generic Ipod clone) was said to be of poor quality. Checking out some of the reviews online confirmed that the KPEX 100 is indeed a nice little gadget with plenty of features.

You can use it as a voice recorder, music player, video player, FM radio, ebook reader (.txt), picture viewer (.jpg), gaming console, and an independent USB-host (you can plug in flash drives directly to the device to transfer files using the cable provided, no need for a computer).

KPEX stands for Kingston Portable Entertainment eXperience, and this model is the company’s first ever media player. CD-R King is selling the version with 1GB internal memory (expandable) at a very reasonable Php1,880. Included accessories are: USB 2.0/1.1 cable, USB host cable, earphones, transcoder software CD, user manual, line-IN cable, lanyard and a white silicone protective rubber cover (very thoughtful).

EDIT: (Dec.18,2008)

I went to CDR King the other day and saw that the price of the 2GB version of KPEX 100 is now reduced to Php1,280. Quite a bargain.
