Portable hard drive price check

The first hard drive I ever owned was in the region of 10GB. At that time, it seemed big enough for all my needs as a student - but that was the Windows 98 era. Nowadays, Windows XP alone would gobble up a sizeable portion of the space, and don’t even get me started on Vista. Add all the movies and music files we archive, and hundreds of gigs can easily get filled up.
That’s exactly what happened to me, and I thought long and hard about whether to just get a 3.5″ drive to add to the desktop (the cheapest option), or an external drive for mobility. Since I do quite a bit of working while traveling, the external drive option won, and I got myself a black Maxtor Basics 320GB drive, with a 2.5″ form factor and a USB connector. It’s been a pain-free purchase so far.
If you’re planning to buy one, the cheapest prices I’ve seen so far have come from PC Express, which has an outlet in Gilmore near Cubao. The best way to get there is to ride the spacious and still not-so-crowded LRT2. I love it there.
As for 2.5″ HDD models and prices, these come directly from their daily price list:
WD Elements 120GB - P 3,050
WD Elements 160GB - P 3,210
WD Elements 250GB - P 4,230
WD Elements 320GB - P 4,870
WD Passport 160GB - P 3,690
WD Passport 250GB - P 4,760
WD Passport 320GB - P 5,240

WD Passport 500GB - P 8,290
WD Elite 250GB Ti/Bronze - P 5,300
WD Elite 320GB Ti/Bronze - P 5,890
Fujitsu Handy 160GB - P 3,320
Fujitsu Handy 300GB - P 4,710
Buffalo Ministation 160GB - P 3,320
Buffalo Ministation 250GB - P 4,440
Buffalo Ministation 320GB - P 5,290
Maxtor One Touch IV 160GB - P 3,910
If you’re looking for the Seagate FreeAgent Go or more Maxtor models, head on over to Villman. They offer a good variety of drives but at a slightly higher price.
